Why Did My Son Have To Die?
"Why did my son have to die in Iraq?"
A mother asked President Kennedy,
"Why did my son have to die in Viet Nam?"
Another mother asked President Truman,
"Why did my son have to die in Korea?"
Another mother asked President Roosevelt,
"Why did my son have to die at Iwo Jima?"
Another mother asked President Wilson,
"Why did my son have to die in France?"
Yet another mother asked President Lincoln,
"Why did my son have to die at Gettysburg?"
And yet another mother asked President Washington,
"Why did my son have to die near Valley Forge?"
Then long, long ago, a mother asked, "Heavenly Father, why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem?"
The answers to all these are similar -- "that others may have life and dwell in peace, happiness and freedom."

I don't really think there is anything Christian about the thousands of lives being lost in places like Iraq and Afghanistan and the idea that the teachings of Jesus support this is quite frankly preposterous.
However it's nice that you have such strong faith in your convictions.

There are more people getting killed in the US in the streets of Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and NYC than the Middle East or any other country. We have killed each other more than we have killed people from other countries in a war. I don't understand why some things happen either but I trust my God and Savior and I trust He knows what He is doing. It is not for me to question it. God Bless you and I hope that someday God may give you the peace that I have in these times that our country is going through now.
